Job Description:

This job will have the candidate rotating between the production floor, TransPower vehicles, and an office environment, and thus requires a person who enjoys that diversity. The position will require some travel to support vehicles deployed at customer locations. This is a fast-paced company providing a challenging environment where new products are always in development and open ended problem solving is the norm. TransPower is small, but growing, so candidates must be self-directed, multitasking, and able to function within various levels of structure and supervision.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree or higher in the field of Mechanical/Electrical Engineering and 2-5 years of experience
  • Experience in Model-Based Controls Development – Controls Rapid Prototyping and Development
  • Strong knowledge of Matlab Simulink based control and plant models development methodology and Matlab scripting
  • Experience in closed loop testing of control models at various fidelity such as MIL, SIL and HIL
  • Troubleshooting experience with tools such as oscilloscopes, multi meters, Vector CANalyzer, and general problem solving skills
  • A strong understanding of vehicle sensors and associated I/O interface Experience with CAN connected devices and knowledge of CAN communication protocol (J1939)
  • Ability to communicate effectively across disciplines and work levels
  • Data analytical skills in programs such as Excel and Matlab

Job Description:

TransPower is seeking an Electrical Designer to join our team in Escondido, CA. The successful applicant will work in the Vehicle Engineering area. TransPower supports a diverse portfolio of customers throughout California. The engineering team is responsible for design and packaging of powertrain, accessory and battery systems. Typical duties and responsibilities for this position are in the areas of electronics harness design, creating electrical schematics and troubleshooting wiring issues on vehicles.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Able to use basic electrical equipment such as a digital multimeter, power supply and data loggers
  • Must be able to read and understand electrical schematic
  • An understanding of modern automotive or heavy duty electrical systems
  • A working knowledge of J1939 CAN physical layer
  • Experience troubleshooting electrical systems

Job Description:

The Project Coordinator will be responsible for assisting Project Managers in their duties managing TransPower’s electric / hybrid vehicles, energy storage and associated charging equipment. The position will support management of projects in all phases of completion from commissioning and integration, through deployment in the field. Travel may be required up to 10% of the time. Travel locations include the greater Los Angeles area and Bakersfield, as well as other locations throughout California and other states. Physical demands include, but are not limited to, bending, climbing, kneeling, reaching, sitting, standing, walking, and maneuvering over, under and around vehicles and equipment, to service, maintain and repair.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • College course work and 3-5 years related work experience
  • Hands-on experience in vehicle technologies
  • General knowledge of truck and bus hybrid or electric drive systems

Job Description:

The Project Engineer will collaborate with Senior Engineers to formulate parameters for each project, including design elements and implementation procedures for TransPower’s electric / hybrid vehicles, energy storage and associated charging equipment. The Project Engineer will develop and monitor project metrics and manage the collection of project data.  Travel may be required up to 10% of the time. Travel locations include the greater Los Angeles area and Bakersfield, as well as other locations throughout California and other states. Physical demands include, but are not limited to, bending, climbing, kneeling, reaching, sitting, standing, walking and maneuvering over, under and around vehicles and equipment.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field
  • 4 or more years related work experience and project planning experience
  • Hands-on experience in vehicle technologies
  • General knowledge of truck and bus hybrid or electric drive systems
