Job Description Overview:

As a Senior Integration Technician, you will be responsible for the integration, commissioning, and troubleshooting of TransPower’s medium duty and heavy-duty electric / hybrid vehicles, energy storage and associated charging equipment. The position will support vehicle commissioning, integration, diagnosing operational problems and repairing equipment for vehicles and equipment in house, as well as in the field. Physical demands include, but are not limited to, bending, climbing, kneeling, reaching, sitting, standing, walking some heavy lifting, and maneuvering over, under and around vehicles and equipment, to service, maintain and repair.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Integrate, commission, repair, troubleshoot and service medium and heavy-duty electric/hybrid vehicles, systems and equipment
  • Maintain good communication with internal/external staff such as engineering, program managers, drivers, co-workers, supervisors, and service technicians
  • Maintain proper paperwork and documentation for installations including written procedures and commissioning documents
  • Complete assigned work accurately and in a timely fashion
  • Train and assist entry level technicians in the operation, repair, diagnostics and maintenance of all TransPower product lines
  • Local daily travel may be required up to 10% of the time, as well as occasional overnight travel throughout North America as the company grows

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of related work experience
  • Technical experience in the automotive/diesel field; heavy-duty vehicles preferred
  • A self-starter with strong personal initiative and follows through to respond promptly to company and customer needs and requests
  • Reliable personal vehicle (TransPower does offer travel reimbursement for work related trips)
  • Proficient oral and written communication skills

Required Technical/Professional Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong experience with electrical wiring, circuit testing, troubleshooting and general mechanical/electrical systems
  • Must be comfortable using a multimeter to diagnose electrical issues
  • Must be able to read schematics and wiring diagrams and be able to make repairs/changes using solder sleeves, terminals and crimpers
  • Basic understanding of electricity (Ohm’s Law) and components (resistors, capacitors, diodes)
  • Basic understanding of vehicle fault codes and communicating with vehicle modules
  • Familiar with the use of hand tools, power tools and shop equipment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Office products, including MS Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
  • Good problem resolution and analytical skills related to troubleshooting technical issues, communicating and documenting solutions to non-technical parties
  • Ability to interact professionally at all times with internal and external customers

Preferred Qualifications/Education:

  • Technical Degree in a related field
  • Class A Commercial Driver’s License. Good driving record and demonstrated ability to safely operate company and customer vehicles
  • Experience using calibration development software, such as MotoTune and Raptor
  • Experience with vehicle hybrid or electric drive systems
  • Experience with integrated circuits, using analog/digital inputs and outputs
  • High voltage, natural gas, and/or hydrogen systems training or certifications

TransPower supports a diverse portfolio of customers throughout California. The engineering team is responsible for design and packaging of powertrain, accessory and battery systems. Typical duties and responsibilities for this position are in the areas of electronics housing design, test equipment design and assembly, packaging concepts, and prototype assembly.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering and 7 years of experience.
  • ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard
  • Basic knowledge of mechanical and electrical design techniques, parts, materials and processes related to electrical/electronic components and assemblies
  • Experience with electrical systems design preferred
  • Previous experience in thermal and structural analysis and hardware testing would be highly beneficial to candidates
  • Working knowledge of 3D CAD (Solidworks)

Desired Qualifications:

    I am Mechanical Engineering Graduate student with specialization in H/EV Powertrain and Automotive Controls. I am looking for Intern/co-op from Jan 2020 and can also start full-time from June 2020. Right now, I am working on HIL testing of Battery Management System (BMS) during my Control co-op.

    I have great expertise in modelling Eletrified Power-train, Vehicle Dynamics, Software-in-Loop (SIL) & Hardware-in-Loop (HIL) testing using Model based System Engineering approach, Optimal Control (LQR) and CAN. I have also working experience on MotoHawk and MotoTune software.
