TransPower’s ElecTruck™ Main Propulsion System (MPS) utilizes the main drive motor originally developed for the Fisker Karma hybrid passenger sedan. Due to its compact size and low cost, the Fisker motor serves as a flexible building block enabling TransPower to provide motive drive solutions for a wide variety of medium and heavy-duty vehicles.

Product Description

Single motor as installed with 6-speed Automated Manual TransmissionFor vehicles with peak power needs of 200 horsepower or less, such as lighter medium-duty vehicles or heavy-duty vehicles that operate at lower speeds, TransPower uses a single Fisker motor, mated to an Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) using the six-speed variant of Eaton’s Road Ranger® manual transmission. The photo to the left below shows the single motor-transmission assembly as installed into a Class 8 Kalmar Ottawa yard tractor. For heavier and higher speed vehicles, two Fisker motors are mated together using a custom-designed dual motor mounting structure, which mates to the transmission and the vehicle frame. This dual motor assembly, shown in the photo to the right below, is the core building block of the ElecTruck™ MPS installed into the largest Class 8 on-road trucks, weighing up to 80,000 lb.

The advanced Fisker motors used in the ElecTruck™ MPS provide high power and torque for demanding heavy-duty vehicle applications in a compact, lightweight package that costs significantly less than competing motor products with equivalent performance characteristics. When used in conjunction with Automated Manual Transmission, these motor options provide unparalleled road performance and efficiency, along with high reliability and durability.
