Moving to all-electric propulsion will require a new means of powering truck accessories such as power steering, braking, and heating, ventilation, and air conditioning. In conventional trucks, these functions utilize engine-driven power takeoff units, but in our electric trucks, the engines will be removed. TransPower addresses this need with an electrically-driven accessory system. Our first generation electric drive system uses a simple but proven assembly built by ISE, in which the air compressor and hydraulic pump operate off a single motor, using a clutch to engage the compressor only as needed.

This electrically-driven accessory subsystem, pictured at left, makes the truck accessories fully electric, allowing them to function without an engine or alternator. The subsystem acquired from ISE is a fifth-generation product that has been steadily improved over the past ten years. Hence truck owners can have high confidence that this component will work reliably and contribute to greater truckoperating efficiency. TransPower also supplies lectrically-driven accessories to provide power for lighting, refrigeration, and any other electrical appliances or loads. In fact, these accessories can be combined with lithium battery packs and installed into conventional diesel trucks to provide electric power without having to idle the engine. |
